KATE MIDDLETON'S RECEPTION DRESS

Once again, rumors confirmed!!! Kate Middleton did had a second dress made for the royal wedding reception at Buckingham Palace. For this Kate decided to go for a strapless, white gown with diamante embellishment at the waist and a cropped angora sweater, also by Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen.

Some people have said they liked the second dress even more than the one she wore for the wedding ceremony. What do you think? Is it really lovelier than the first one or just as lovely?

I personally think both dresses are stunning and very appropriate for her own personal style. The first one was perfect for the ceremony (although I would've loved to see her with a longer veil) and this second one I think is absolutely gorgeous for the royal reception. Thumbs up for both of them.

Prince William decided to ditch his military uniform for a dinner jacket, also handsome in both.

ROYAL FASHION

Finally the moment we've all been waiting for: THE ROYAL FASHION!!! Who wore what, some we hate, some we love and some we applaud.

But what really kept everyone awake at wee hours was WHO DESIGNED KATES DRESS!!! To our delight she lived to everyone's expectations. Finally the rumors where confirmed and it was revealed that Sarah Burton Creative Director for Alexander McQueen did design the dress. The world already loves Kate for such a modern choice of designer.

DESIGN INSPIRATION: TWELVE CHAIRS

This morning I was checking my e-mails and came upon one Daily Candy newsletter that featured Boston Based home furnishing shop Twelve Chairs. Turns out they also have they're own blog which I decide to check out and found some amazing images that I thought where so inspirational.  There's this one specific post that talks about salon style gallery walls that I was very much attracted to, they even included a little art history fact:

salon style display dates back to seventeenth century Paris where the Royal Academy of Painting and Sculpture would exhibit the artwork of recent graduates by closely mounting their pieces all in one room. Little did these Parisians know that they would be influencing the way we display artwork in our homes some 300 years later!

Next to fashion, interior design is one of my life's passions, I LOVE IT!!! I wish I had more spaces available to decorate (Oh, and more money too).  Someday in the near future I'm gonna have a salon style gallery wall filled with colorful pieces of art. I'm very much the eclectic type of gal.

So I just wanted to share with you this images that I'll be using as inspiration in the future for my own salon style gallery wall. And don't forget to visit Twelve Chairs website and blog, I do owe them this wonderful images that have completely brighten up my day, most likely you'll end up finding some inspirational images yourself. If you live near the area just go ahead and pay them a visit, I wish I could but I'm thousands of miles away!!!

Have a wonderful bright day!!!

Until next!!!

THE IT BAG

I once read on an article that one of the many things every woman deserves to have is an "It Bag" not precisely many but one.

I'm the kind of girl who doesn't like to change her bag that often and grows quite attached to the one she has. I much rather spend money in one amazing bag and all sorts of shoes. I simply like the idea of a signature bag, one that you always wear and that people know it's yours, just like the signature perfume (but we'll talk more about that later). Also I don't really like super trendy bags. I'm not the type that's after the bag everyone has or wants. I've been carrying with me the same Prada bag for two years now and I still love it, I don't care if everyone has already seen me 1,000,000 times wearing it.

However this year I thought it would be nice to consider another handbag. When the time came to narrow it down to one gorgeous bag that could come with me everywhere for the next two years I thought of a Chloé Bucket Bag. I loooove them (I don't know if I've already told you about my obsession with Chloé). They're simple, elegant and understated, I don't have to take it to the consignment store in six months because it's sooooo obvios it's sooooo last season. Net-a-porter had a fabulous perforated Chloé Bucket Bag that I wanted to show you a picture of but unfortunately they run out of stock and I can't find a picture of it anywhere!!! OH WAIT!!! I JUST FOUND IT!!!HAHAHA!!! This is it, the Chloé Bucket Bag of my dreams, It's actually called The Chloé Charlie perforated bucket bag. Although now I think I can't have it anymore because they're sold out!!! My bad, if not I might just go for a Proenza Schouler one.

CHLOÉ CHARLIE PERFORATED BUCKET BAG

Or perhaps, what do you think of this PROENZA SCHOULER PS1 KEEP ALL LEATHER AND STRAW BAG?

If not we'll stick to Chloé and her lovely bucket bags, here are some images of the Fall 2010 showcasing the bags (I know what you're thinking...They're soooo last season I DON'T CARE!!! I love them and If I can still find one I'll get it, not used though, it has to be brand new).

Chloé it is!!!

A SHORT STORY: YELLOW SHORTS

Hello dear friends, I hope you all had a very happy Easter. I'm starting to think I haven't been such a good girl lately  because no Easter bunny came to MY house this year (In fact, no Santa Claus either last Christmas, I'm starting to worry) at least some people got a hangover.

Anyhow, I don't know about you guys but here in Guatemala is getting hotter by the minute (OK!!! I might be exaggerating a bit, it actually never gets too hot here, but for our standards it is) This means it's time to bring out your smallest outfits out of the closet and dust them off, remember less is more in the summer. We already talked about the maxi dress which we all love and adore and now it's time to talk about SHORTS.

For all of you who have killer legs shorts are another fabulous way to spend your indian summer with. I already bought myself a pair about three weeks ago in Massimo Dutti and can't wait to wear them (stay tuned because I'll be posting some outfit ideas with them).

This morning I was navigating the web and found three shorts that I would loooove to wear this summer, a colored one, a printed one and a neutral one.

Thru-out the day I'll be posting outfit ideas using this three shorts starting with the colored ones. We all know this summer was pretty much represented by bright colors specially neon ones, so here goes my VANESSA BRUNO Neon woven shorts outfit. I hope you like it.

ANTIGUA DAY 4

Can you believe I've been in Antigua for 5 days and still I haven't been able to eat my vegetarian hamburger from La Esquina. Odds are I wont be having it today either because we're planing to go to "La Reunión" a beautiful golf resort about 30 minutes away from Antigua, food there is amazing as well as the view http://www.lareunion.com.gt/. I guess I can always come back to Antigua any other weekend and enjoy my wonderful vegetarian hamburger. Oh well, next time.

Yesterday was a wonderful day.

1. I took Taco and MJ for a walk in the park.
2. My mom and I had a wonderful italian lunch at El Cazador Italiano which translates into The Italian Hunter.
3. We went for a walk and had an exotic ice cream from Sobremesa.
4. We met with my friend Marianna and sat down on a bench in the park while I enjoyed a double espresso.
5. We went to dinner at Epicure.
6. I met with some friends and went out for drinks.

At Sobremesa having an exotic ice cream.

ANTIGUA DAY 3: FOOD

Oh my goodness everyone!!! If day 2 was characterized by endless walking, day 3 was characterized by endless eating!!! My mother and my aunt are both Spanish and I'm half Italian-half Spanish so of course we have good appetites!!!

When we left our house yesterday around noon we walked all the way to Casa Santo Domingo, one of Antigua's most prestigious and biggest hotels www.casasantodomingo.com.gt. There we had some drinks and some bruschettini, of course my mother doesn't drink so she had a lemonade, my aunt Victoria had a gin and tonic and I had a dirty martini.  We wondered around the hotel like a bunch of tourists for a while and when we finally left it looked like it was going to rain so we decided to head ourselves directly to Epicure. Epicure is one of my favorite restaurants and deli in Antigua, they serve and sell the freshest organic food and produce in Guatemala, If you order fish odds are it was caught that same day!!! It's without a doubt an incredible culinary experience, the food is nothing out of the ordinary but it tastes amazing.

3 hours later and 3 very full very happy stomachs we decide it was time to move, so we did. We kept on walking for a while and then it really started to rain!!! we speed walked to Panza Verde (another super nice boutique hotel in Antigua near our house) and decided to have a capuccino while the rain passed.

We finally got home, a bit tired and with a very full stomach still but extremely happy after such an enjoyable day. Let's see what tomorrow has in store for us!!! Hopefully more good times and more good food.

Lazy Taco.

Vigilant Taco.

I think my mother's photography skills are getting a little better. I guess I just need to have a little more patience.

OUTFIT

MAXI DRESS: From a local store here in Guatemala
OWL NECKLACE: Anthropologie
SANDALS: Massimo Dutti (after this vacation I'm gonna have to throw them out)

My moms lunch.

My aunts lunch.

Ladies and gentlemen...my lunch FRIED FISH!!! Fried, fried, fried hahahaha (don't be alarmed, I didn't eat the french fries, it was way too much to handle).

Look at that fish!!! Crispy and flaky and soft and tender, simply FANTASTIC!!! Fried fish is one of my faaaaaavorite dishes but only if cooked well and it can't smell like American fried food, otherwise I won't eat it.  Also don't even get me started with the delicious dried fruit and nuts bread they served us DELICIOUS!!!

If you are in Antigua and don't really know where to eat, I highly recommend EPICURE.

ANTIGUA DAY 2

Our Antigua Day 2 was characterized by a lot of walking. This time we decided to take Mary Jane and Taco with us and let me tell you those two where a couple of champs, they walked with us for 4 hours non stop and never complained about it, we might've had a 20 minutes rest but that's it. Taco is always leading the way while MJ is a bit more hesitant about the whole thing, my mother has spoiled her waaaaay too much.

Since I knew it was going to be a long day I decided to wear my MNG printed maxi dress, I wanted to feel fresh, relaxed and at the same time stylish. Of course I'm not showing you my shoes!!! WHY you might ask yourself? Well... They look like I just recently found them in a dumpster (or they almost look like that, just give them a few days). The streets in Antigua are terrible, they're stone streets!!! I thought to myself: Why bring my nice sandals when I know they're gonna get all ruined!!! Instead I brought ones that I know after this trip I can throw them away without feeling any guilt or regret, I mean I wished they would've lasted longer because I loved them, they are indian style, but they didn't. I guess I just used them way too much, which is they way it's supposed to be when you really like something.

Anyhow, here are some images of my Day 2 in Antigua, they're not all about fashion but I do hope you like them.

Enjoy!!!

I told you Taco is the biggest (and the chubbiest) chihuahua you've ever seen.

Can't you tell it's mango season in Guatemala right now?

Mary Jane loves playing with balls, she loves to chase them around the house, so needless to say when we saw this little girl playing ball in the park MJ started barking and wouldn't stop!!! She wanted to play with them but of course we couldn't let her because she doesn't know how to behave in public open spaces.

This tiny italian treasure serves the best and the strongest sangrias you've ever had!!! Believe me, I've already been a victim.

I want chairs like this for my apartment!!! Aren't they awesome!!!

This place is another of Antigua's hidden treasures, it's called LA ESQUINA where they serve the very famous vegetarian hamburgers which I still haven't been able to have because they weren't serving them yesterday!!! I have to admit that I decide to take the picture above because A. I love the decor and B. It color coordinates with my dress hahaha.

Candied popcorn!!! Typical of Guatemala.

This is the entrance to the restaurant where hopefully we're having dinner tonight, It's called COMO COMO. The food is Franco-Belgium and the decor is absolutely unique and beautiful, if we go today I'll try to take some pictures to share with you later on. This is what I looove about Antigua the most, it's filled with hidden treasures for you to discover.

ANTIGUA DAY 1

Ok, so it's been Day 1 of our wonderful vacation and until now we've enjoyed doing absolutely nothing. My mother and I are early birds so even though we woke up around 7:00am we just wandered around the house all morning and ended up leaving the around noon.

The only reason we left our home today was because we needed to go buy some groceries and some freshly baked wholegrain bread for me and potato bread for my mother, I'm always the one aiming for the healthiest choices, I try to do my best (not easy but doable).

When we where about to leave I had the wonderful idea of bringing our dogs with us in the car. I actually wanted to walk but my mother said there was no way in this world she was gonna walk all the way from the grocery store with all the heavy bags and the dogs, so we drove. Needless to say, it was like some sort of Greek tragedy every time she stepped off the car, MJ and Taco wouldn't stop crying!!! They have some SERIOUS obsession with my mother, it's crazy. When we where finished, we went back home, cooked some delicious lunch and just decided to do absolutely nothing, FANTASTIC!!! Tomorrow will be another day, tomorrow is walking day with MJ and Taco, we'll see how THAT goes.

Tomorrow I'm looking forward to having a vegetarian hamburger from LA ESQUINA for lunch or a lamb hamburger from a really delicious place called SABE RICO which translates into TASTES GOOD, I can't quite decide yet. Oh what the hell, I'll just have both, one tomorrow and one the next day. Wish us luck!!!

Here are images of our very lazy Wednesday.
