A VERY COLORFUL FARMERS MARKET PART II

Ok everyone!!! Here's part II of yesterday's very colorful Saúl É. Méndez Farmers Market. Remember it's only once a month so next time be sure not to miss it you're guaranteed to find lots of delicious and interesting things, I know I have!!! Yesterday I bought myself carrots, onions and beets (I looove beets), a delicious sauce (cebollín y loroco) from Chef Mon Coeur which by the way had the cutest stand and dining table all decorated by the chef herself Deby Fadul. I also bought the most amazing pita bread and finally my Engashada shoes, which I'll be sharing some pictures later on.

Hope to see you all next time.

Entertainment for the little ones. Cupcake decorating!!! How fun!!!

This is the lovely dining table I was telling you about. I had the privilege to talk to Deby Fadul herself and she was telling me all about her creative artistic catering service, plus she does the decorating too, I personally loved it and can't wait to have an excuse to hire her services.

More lovely decorating by Chef Mon Coeur.

Just tell me this isn't the cutest.

I think Deby gave the farmers market a vintage touch with her wonderfully decorated food stand.

More entertainment for the kids.

Fresh vegetables!!!

Look at this wonderful beets!!! In fact, today I'm having beet salad yummi.

That's it folks!!! Until next!!!

A VERY COLORFUL FARMERS MARKET PART I

Ok everyone, since last time I was a very VERY lazy little girl at the farmers market (due to the incessant heat and the very heavy carrots and onions I was carrying all over the place) this time I thought it was inexcusable not to take some wonderful pictures, sooo...guess what? today I have for you 22 very colorful images which I decide to divide in two posts because 22 seemed too much for just one post.

Here's part I of what I saw yesterday at the Farmers Market.

Ray Bans and the mariniére.

A young stylish couple.

Entertainment for the little ones (OK! maybe not ONLY the little ones where entertained with the chickens, so was I haha).

More stylish young people.

Carmela always so colorful.

With the lovely Chepa and Carmela.

I told you I was ALSO impressed by the chickens, so much I was that I actually wanted to take one with me but unfortunately I don't have a garden or a farm.

Look at those gorgeous chickens!!!

Neon shoes!!!

Carmela is the girl with the colorful tennis shoes, last time she wore pink neon Converses.

A couple in love.

Sooooooooo STAY TUNED FOR PART II!!! some more lovely and colorful images coming your way soon later on today.

TEALICIOUS!!!

Good morning dear Style by Red friends!!! What a wonderful saturday it is!!! I woke up later than usual (7:30am instead of 6:30am haha), had my regular morning cup of coffee, went to the gym and right now I'm having some sort of weird green smoothie (I think it's matcha tea or something like that) that's suppose to give me lots of energy, soooo what can I say, I feel relaxed.

Why am I having this green thing and where did I get it? Well, let me tell you. For a while now I've been considering  changing from coffee to tea. I know coffee is just about the greatest thing God ever created but... I do have to admit I desperately need to lower my daily ingest of caffeine. However, switching from heavenly coffee to plain ol' tea is no easy task, lipton tea just wont get the job done, I need something more attractive.

Soooo, for a while now, every day when I leave the gym (ok, I'm lying I don't go to the gym every day) I get to pass by in front of the cutest little tea bar called INFUSSION TEA BAR but never really go in until today and what I surprise it was, it's heaven for tea lovers!!! I'm serious, it's soooo cute I thought to myself: this is the perfect place to start my tea habit!!! And so I did, I decided to try this matcha tea smoothie (with soy milk of course NO LACTOSE!!!)  and bought myself the cutest little box of the most wonderfully aromatic hot cinnamon spice tea to start my new morning habit. The greatest part is that when I finally finish the tea I get to keep the little box and use it for storage!!! Now I'm ready to start a healthy habit, supermarket teas just aren't enough me.

I highly recommend that you pay the place a little visit and fall in love with their wonderful tea collection, they even have some sort of bridal tea, I was like: WHAT THE HELL IS A BRIDAL TEA? WHAT DOES IT DO? GIVE YOU BRIDAL POWERS OR WHAT? Whatever... just get yourself there and judge yourself and let me know if you had a good experience or not.

Where can you find these tea heaven?

FARMER'S MARKET FAVORITES

Today was farmer's market sunday again!!! I always get so excited when it's FMS, It's THE perfect opportunity to do something different on a regular Sunday. Why not love it? You get to meet new people, hang out with friends and family, see people you haven't seen in a very long time, take colorful pictures, find out about new and innovative products, taste delicious food and just simply have a wonderful time. I was very much surprised to see how much more people there was this time than the one last month. My guess is that next time more people will visit and maybe eventually they're gonna have to change venues because more people are gonna want to be part of it, which is absolutely great.

I have to make a confession, today it was sooooo insanely HOT that I was too lazy and didn't take that many pictures (that and the fact that I was carrying a huge plastic bag with the biggest carrots and onions you've ever seen in your whole entire life, forget about weight lifting tomorrow at the gym, I did a week's work today). However I did take some pictures of some of my favorite things at today's FM. I did see many other wonderful things but like I said, too lazy.

So, here they are MY FARMER'S MARKET FAVORITE THINGS, enjoy!!! And hope you can join us next time (if you live in Guatemala of course). For more information on future farmers markets visit:

My friend Carmela with her heart shaped sunglasses, Hello Kitty t-shirt and neon pink Converse shoes.

Colorful and tasty food.

Today I met this girl called Mandre who designs and manufactures this wonderful collection of shoes made out of Guatemalan textiles called ENGASHADA. I saw them and almost had a fit because I was stupid enough not to bring enough cash, SERIOUSLY!!! How stupid is that!!!

However I did ask Mandre if I could contact her and buy them later and she said OF COURSE!!!

If any of you are as interested as I am, here's her contact:

mabarquin@gmail.com

I also met another lovely girl named María Lucía Ramírez who studies industrial design and who also makes some pretty innovative and environmentally friendly shoes, this ones are made out of recycled sack material, like a sack of potatoes, or a sack of sugar, or a sack of... whatever... I hope I'm making myself understood, please do remember my first language is Spanish.

I thought they where pretty cool so if anyone is interested in her shoes this is her contact:

dcorate.accesorios@hotmail.com

Well, that's all folks!!! Again excuse my laziness, I promise next time I'll take more pictures.

MY COVETED PIECES PART II: A LITTLE BIT OF VINTAGE

Good morning everyone!!! I hope you're all doing great!!!

Today I'm very excited and a little bit nervous too because we're filming the pilot for an upcoming TV show. It's been postponed several times but today is finally the day. Of course after this I have to go and look for future advertisers so that the show will actually be a reality but I'm very positive that we will.

Before I leave for the network I wanted to make sure to I shared with you MY COVETED PIECES PART II. Enjoy and wish me luck!!!

My collection of colored buttons and vintage colored thread. I have them as part of my room decoration. My dad's mom used to make her own clothes and she did some amazing things, she even knitted little dressed for me when I was a little girl, she truly had a talent for it. When she passed away I got to keep some of her sewing stuff which included all this colored thread. Since I don't make my own clothes because I don't have the time or patience, I decided to give them a more decorative purpose. Now you know what to do with all that thread you have and never use.

HATS!!! Some old, some new. The ones on top belonged to my grandfather.

Statement necklaces. I think I've already told you before I'm not very big on earrings unless they are big and gorgeous, but I do love necklaces, specially big ones.

I just recently bought this necklace at MANGO this year and already is one of my favorites.

More of my grandmothers vintage hats.

My only Louis Vuitton. I'm not a huge fan of their bags because I don't like wearing that amount of logos anywhere but for some reason I don't want to let go of this one. I bought it a long time ago and never wear it but it's there and it's going to keep on staying where it's at.

Outrageous headpieces!!! I love them, if I had more opportunities to wear stuff like this in Guatemala I totally would but I don't even get invited to weddings anymore hahaha. However some people do get offended when you wear stuff like this to someone's wedding, they'll say your trying to grab to much attention. I'm tall, with high heels I'm huge hahaha Imagine high heels and a voluminous headpiece with feathers all over the place!!! I actually wore this for my cousin's wedding and it looked great, I kept on poking people in the eye and of course there was your common person asking me if I had killed some bird and put it in my head, but I'm already used to those kind of comments.

My mother's vintage custom jewelry.

I bought this cape at Massimo Dutti in December and I'm telling you I loved it so much I basically slept in it.

My favorite statement ring.

CLOSET SOLUTIONS

What's a stylist to do when she finds herself confronted with limited closet space available for her many fashion finds?

She gets creative.

That would be the case for me. I live in an apartment with small closet space (perhaps more tiny than small at least for my standards hahaha). God bless people that have the privilege to enjoy huge walk-in closet spaces!!! I declare that soon I'll be joining the "Big Closet People Club", meanwhile I must do the best I can with what I have (thank God for that).

Anyhow, the other day I decided to install a roller rack in my room and bring out all of my day dresses out of the closet and organize them on the rack in the middle of my room, it was just starting to get a little bit too crowded inside my closet and really hard to actually visualize everything I have. Now my room officially looks like a fashion/vintage boutique, it's actually pretty decorative and easier for me to find the things I'm looking for.

What did I leave inside my closet? Well everything else.

1. Evening dresses.
2. Cocktail dresses.
3. Shoes.
4. Jeans, trousers, shorts.
5. Skirts.
6. Sweaters and cardigans.
8. Jackets, capes and coats.
9. Accessories (sunglasses, necklaces, rings, bracelets, headscarfs, headpieces).
10. Tops.
11. Pijamas.
12. Clutches and bags.
13. Scarfs.
14. Gym Clothes.
15. Beach clothes.
16. Belts.
17. Pantyhose and tights.
18. Hats.
19. Bikinis.
20. Underwear and undergarments
21. And some miscelanea.

Perhaps I'm missing something, yeah most likely I am.

Here's how everything looks now.

Roller rack with all my day dresses except maxi dresses, those I left inside the closet, too long for the rack.

A closer look of some of my day dresses.

Et Voliá!!! My tiny closet. Ok!!! Maybe bigger than most European closets and I guess Japanese people must have some small closet space too, whatever I still think it's small.

I wish I had more space available to display my shoes but I don't so I chose to keep them like this at least they don't get all ruined and I also take them to my shoe repair guy quite often to get fixed, some of them where pretty expensive so they deserve to be taken care of. There's nothing more terrifying than going to some persons closet and look at all their shoes one on top of the other, it just makes me want to SCREEEEAAAAAM!!!

To the left I keep my longer skirts, maxi dresses, cocktail dresses and evening dresses.

I bought this tie-belt hanger, I don't what the hell it is for but I saw it and thought it was perfect for hanging all my necklaces. It's so much more effective like this, you can see clearly all you have and they don't get all tangled and ruined. I highly recommend that you try doing it this way.

Next to the necklaces I keep my skirts, chunky sweaters, v-neck's, cardigans, vests, night time tops and day time tops.

Underneath I keep my shorts, jeans, trousers, jackets, capes and coats. This is Guatemala so the one and only heavy coat I have (Gabriele Strehle amazing long black belted coat!!!) for when I travel to countries with much colder climates I keep it in another closet, next to my dad's English trench coat I keep for remembrance.

And last but not least, on top I have the rest of things that didn't fit underneath (because basically I have no drawers) all neatly kept inside labeled plastic containers. I think it's a very organized and effective way to keep things you don't have more space for. Things I keep inside this labeled plastic containers:

1. Clutches.
2. Scarfs.
3. Gym Clothes.
4. Underwear and undergarments.
5. Beach clothes.
6. Bikinis.
7. Belts.
8. Tights and pantyhose.
9. Hats.

There's no more space available for one more labeled plastic container.

Do you have limited closet space? I'd love to hear some of your own closet solutions, you're not alone there.

LACE, CHANEL AND VALENTINO

Good morning everyone!!! What a lovely Sunday it is!!!

Yesterday it was my little nephew's baptism. Fermin (That's his name) is a true miracle to the family, he was born premature and weighed merely 2 pounds!!! Today he's a healthy little boy with a healthy weight and we thank God for it.

It was a morning celebration and so I decided to wear a combination of ivory and black, one of my favorites because I think it's so elegant. I wore a Maeve lace dress I bought at Anthropologie, I love this dress because it has a vintage feeling to it even though it's not. I also wore my Valentino shoes, Chanel bag, my diamonds and pearls earrimgs my parents gave me for my birthday a couple of years ago, Lauren G Adams ring, an embellished chiffon belt that I also bought at Anthropologie and a Jennifer Oullette headpiece that I bought at Barneys New York on a trip a while ago. I felt regal.

It was a delightful morning surrounded by family and friends. Of course we ended up leaving the party around 7pm.

Here are some images of my wonderful outfit and also some images of some of my favorite things at the celebration. I hope you like them.

Maeve lace dress from Anthropologie

Valentino Shoes

Embellished chiffon wrap around your waist belt. This belt is really not a belt, it's a choker although I've never worn it that way, I either wear it as a belt or as a headpiece.  I have another one in nude that I love

Chanel bag

Lauren G Adams ring

Et Voilá!!! The final look, sans the Chanel bag

MY FAVORITE THINGS AT THE CELEBRATION

Fermin

My nephew Juan Diego. He's my youngest brother's latest acquisition hahaha I loooooove him

My mother and Juan Diego. She's sooooo in love with him, never seen her like this.

My very handsome cousin Andres who dared to be different and whore a pair of white trouser, white shirt and gray with white stripes jacket (Oh and you can't see it here but he was wearing navy blue suede loafers, no socks). I think he looked great.

Me and my handsome cousin enjoying some refreshing drinks. Look at that pool in the back, doesn't it make you feel like jumping into it? Unfortunately we all left our bathing suits home. Next time.

MIMOSAS!!!

That's all folks!!! Until next!!!
