My friend Shánila is perhaps the worlds number one hosiery fan. She literally wears stockings, tights or leggings every single day of her life. She wears them with everything (except pants or jeans of course), shorts, skirts, dresses... She really loves wearing them. This passion for hosiery is what led her and her sister Rita to start their own business. Being the hosiery lovers they are they noticed how hard it was to find cool tights and leggings here in Guatemala. This is how Rococo Moda was born.

Thru our weekly Rococo Moda posts Shánila and Rita show us the many chic ways to wear hosiery (no you not only wear them to a job interview).  It really is an endless world of possibilities, and quite frankly they're one of our best allies because they help us keep certain things in place, if you know what I'm talking about.

Mi amiga Shánila es quizás la fan número uno de las medias en el mundo. Literalmente usa medias, tights o leggings todos los días de su vida. Las usa con todo (excepto con pantalones y jeans por supuesto), shorts, faldas, vestidos... Realmente las ama. Fue esta pasión por las medias la que llevó a ella y a su hermana a iniciar su propio negocio. Siendo las fans de medias que son, se dieron cuenta lo difícil que era conseguir tight y leggings aquí en Guatemala. Fue así como nació Rococo Moda. 

A través de nuestros posts semanales de Rococo Moda Shánila y Rita nos muestran las diferentes formas de usar medias (no solamente las usas a una entrevista de trabajo). Realmente es un mundo de posibilidades infinitas, además son unas de nuestras mejores aliadas porque nos ayudan a mantener ciertas cosas en su lugar, si saben a lo que me refiero.

Remember ladies the days where finding cool hosiery, tights, and leggings in Guatemala was practically a mission? I was constantly asked by my clients where they could buy colorful tights. Quite frankly I would always tell them to look online. Well... today I have great news for you. You don't have to look online anymore. Introducing Rococo Moda: Colorful, printed, hosiery, tights, and leggings for girls who like to have fun and look different. Here's a little inspiration for the romantic girls now that Valentine's Day is just around the corner.

Se recuerdan chicas de los días en que encontrar medias, tights y leggings en Guatemala era prácticamente una misión? Mis clientes constantemente me preguntaban donde podían comprarlas. Francamente yo siempre les aconsejaba que buscaran en línea. Bueno... hoy les traigo muy buenas noticias. Ya no tienen que buscar más en línea. Les presento Rococo Moda: Medias, tights y leggings coloridas y estampadas para chicas que les gusta divertirse y verse diferentes. He aquí una pequeña inspiración para ustedes las chicas románticas ahora que San Valentín está a la vuelta de la esquina.

HOW TO WEAR BLACK LEGGINGS IN THE WINTER

I still can't decide if the invention of the leggings was a life savior or a true fashion catastrophe. I for instance don't own a single pair of them. I know that for pregnant women they are most definitely a savior but most of the time a catastrophe on most women. However I do have to admit that if done correctly they can look quite chic, it's because of this premise that lately I have been contemplating the idea of getting myself a pair. 

Since I'm always looking out for your best interest I engaged myself in an intensive research to find the true definition of leggings and what's the difference between leggings and tights, two very similar but also very different things.

Leggings are a type of skin tight clothing covering the legs, which can be worn by both men and women (this is kind of scary). Modern leggings are typically made from a blend of lycra, spandex, nylon, cotton or polyester blend, but they can also be made from wool, silk and other materials. 

The first difference between tights and leggings is the material used to make them. As a general rule, tights are slightly thinner than leggings, and are not intended to be worn alone (meaning you are not supposed to show your behind or crotch). Leggings are made of thicker material, and though its is not recommended in fashion, they may be worn alone. 

The next difference in tights and leggings is length. Tights generally stretch over the feet and all the way up to the waist, entirely covering the legs. Leggings usually end at the ankle, and do not normally cover the feet.  

So... even though leggings are supposedly allowed to be worn alone I personally recommend that you wear them with something that covers your butt and crotch. Also even though they come in a variety of lengths I prefer the longer ones because I think aesthetically speaking they look better, unless its summer and you're sailing at the French Riviera. 

With all this information in mind, I prepared for you three different outfit ideas for you to try at home. Hope you find them inspiring!
