LA MARINIERE PART II

Hello everyone!!! Hope you're enjoying a wonderful weekend.

Right not it's 5:47 in the afternoon and it's quite cloudy and gloomy here in Guatemala City, which in fact is kind of perfect for just staying home, relax and rest because when it's sunny and wonderful outside one always wants to be enjoying the outdoors involved in energy absorbing activities.  I'm so tired after such a busy week that I'm really looking forward to Easter because my mom, aunt and I are going to Antigua for a bohemian week (ok, MAYBE not that bohemian hahaha we don't smoke marihuana and or drink absinth and we do take daily showers. For me being bohemian means dressing in maxi dresses, sandals, head scarfs, ethnic jewelry and walking all over the colonial city taking pictures and talking to complete strangers at coffee shops, real coffee shops not the Amsterdam kind).  Antigua has some of THE best restaurants in all Guatemala so I'm really looking forward to going to a couple of them, Italian, Greek, French, Japanese-Latin fusion, Thai, you name it, we have it all in such a small place.  Also, since I started this blog I haven't read ANYTHING!!! And I'm a reader, I read a lot so this means I'm gonna have to make some time for blogging AND reading next week. 

Anyhow, on with today's topic. On our first MARINIERE post I shared some ideas on how to wear "La Mariniere" a la classic, romantic and relaxed. Today it's all about wearing your cute little stripped shirt a la elegant, dramatic and sportive. Amazing how versatile this iconic shirt is!!! I could keep on going with outfit ideas, but of course we need to move on to other topics. However if you'd like me to share more outfit ideas with you guys I'll gladly do it, just let me know.

LA MARINIERE PART I

Yesterday my former teacher Michelle T. Sterling founder and training director of the very prestigious Sterling Style Academy www.sterlingstyleacademy.com where I was trained to be an image consultant and personal shopper, gave me an excellent idea. She told me I should share a post about the famous and always appraised "Mariniére", that lovely white and navy blue stripped shirt Miss Coco Chanel made famous in the 1920's (it was actually in 1917 that she first introduced it in her shop in Dauville) after she saw some sailors wearing it while on a trip to Deauville, France. This was Coco Chanel's first experience with the ocean. 

Last year when I still didn't have a blog and only worked with Facebook I did a piece or may I say various pieces (I was obsessed and still am) about this wonderful and versatile summer shirt. Michelle told me she loved it and that I should share it again. I thought to myself: What a great idea!!! But... why not make something new this time? I know it's a little bit more work but it's worth it, a new year requires new ideas.

Anyhow, this is how it's gonna go. Right now I'm sharing with you some outfit ideas on how to wear "La Marienére" a la classic, romantic and relaxed.  Later on or tomorrow, I don't know exactly, depends on how much time I have to do this because I have a personal shopping appointment this afternoon, I'll be posting outfit ideas on how to wear it a la elegant, dramatic and sportive. Then when I'm finished with this I'll be sharing my own MARINIERE LOOK BOOK, I have like three different ones in my closet so I think it should be fun to make some outfits with them and take some pictures to share with you.
