SUNDAY MORNING

I used to have this mirror on top of my secretaire. A couple of days ago, I came home to find my mirror on the floor. It had fallen down!!! Thank god the frame is very thick and strong and nothing happened to it. However I found myself forced to relocate the mirror, and since I still don't know where exactly to put it, I decided to just leave it on top of my chair while I think of a better place. This morning I woke up and first thing I saw was this image. I thought to myself: this would make a wonderful picture. Needless to say I took a picture.

Now, Im off to the gym!!!

FARMERS MARKET FUN

Today I took mi niece Natalia to the once a month farmer's market at Saúl E. Méndez. When we got there it was still sunny but all of a sudden the sky got really gray and it started to pour down rain. However this didn't stop the fun, we found ourselves some shelter and waited for the rain to pass, which was like 5 minutes, that's the beauty of rain in Guatemala, it can rain super hard for like say 5 to 10 minutes and then all of a sudden the rain will stop and the sun will come out again. Needless to say we enjoyed ourselves together and Natalia had blast hanging out with the clowns and acrobats.

Here are some images of today's farmer's market fun, hope you like them and if you still haven't been to any of them I highly recommend that you do next time and bring all the family with you.

GUATEMALAN TALENT

Good morning everyone!!! I hope you're all feeling great because I'm as sick as a dog!!! This is what I get for blurting out (all confident) I NEVER GET SICK!!! I guess it's life's own way of bitting you in the ass (pardon my french).

Anyhow... on Monday I attended a very unique event. I think I told you a while ago that I was invited to be a judge for a singing contest Mc Donald's holds for it's employees every year. The contest is called VOICE OF MC DONALD'S (practically their own little latin american idol) and on Monday where the finals. I have to give thank's to Mc Donald's for considering me for such a task, it was a lot of fun and gave me the chance to do something out of the ordinary. Choosing the winner was no easy task plus I must congratulate everyone for their outstanding performances and wish good luck to the winner who will be traveling to Mexico for the semi-finals.

After the contest was over and the winners where announced, famous guatemalan band MALACATES TREBOL SHOP gave us our own private concert and it was great!!! Jacobo Nitsch who's the most incredible musician (ok, maybe I am Jacobo's #1 fan) and plays the trumpet for the band was also one of my fellow judges.

Here's some images of the final concert. If you'd like to learn more about the band and listen to their music you may visit their website:

Enjoy!!!

Ok, maybe I want one of those little red portable pianos, I don't play any instruments so who knows what the hell their called, I just want it as part of my home decorating, or maaaaaybe I can get my picture taken with one them and look all rock starish, that would be awesome, I always wanted to look like a rock star, hence why I colored my hair red but I think I didn't succeeded, I don't think I'm even near looking like one, perhaps I'm missing some piercing and tattoos or a piano like this one (or a black leather jacket in fact).

Ok, that's all folks!!! It was a lot of fun!!!
Next time there's a MALACATES concert near you try not to miss it.

Until next!!!

ENGASHADA SHOES

Can you believe this weather? This morning it was incredibly hot, then all of a sudden it got cold and started to rain, now it's all foggy and rainy and cold, no wonder I got the flu, and I NEVER GET SICK!!! Rainy weather and me don't get along very well, in a way it get's me all lazy and depressed, I guess it's simply because I'm a very tropical person.

Well, just like I promised you, here are a couple of images of my Engashada shoes I bought at the farmers market. Last FM I saw them for the first time but didn't have enough money to buy them, this time I was a little bit more prepared and finally bought them. I really like them and today I got complimented on them by some very nice lady at the gym.

If you like what you see, you may contact Mandre Barquín designer and creator of the shoes, she has all sorts of different designs that you might like.

FABULOUS FRIENDS

Yesterday was one of those great Saturday's surrounded by some of my favorite people, drinking beer and eating hamburgers (and of course a little gossiping and a lot of laughs). Despite the rain we managed to have our little BBQ and enjoys ourselves, like we always do when we get together.

After we had stuffed ourselves with nachos, dip, cheeseburgers, beer and banana chocolate chip cake we decided to have a little photo shoot. Here are some images of some of my most fabulous friends.

Thank you guys for such a lovely time!!! Sorry I didn't stick all the way to the end, but... like always I was falling asleep, whenever I eat too much I get sleepy.

CONVERSE & FRIENDS

Yesterday I went to a model casting for Guatemalan fashion designer Manuel de la Cruz www.manuel-delacruz.com upcoming fashion show and got to hang out with my friends Catherine and María José who are the hosts of the morning show Matutino Express where I have my weekly style segment. The only reason we where there was to hang out and fool around (and hope some cute guys would show up). Needless to say we had fun like we always do when when we hang out together.

María José, the black sheep.

Red heads!!!

Catherine was being filmed for her show Guate es Arte (Guatemala is Art), of course we interrupted her  with our foolish behavior and she had to do it all over again, sorry.

That's all folks!!!

MY COVETED PIECES PART III: FROM MAX MARA TO PRADA

Hello guys!!! Sorry I abandoned you for a little while there but apparently Blogger was having some complications and actually MY COVETED PIECES PART II post has vanished!!! I've heard they are going to restore it in a little while but if not I'm gonna have to re-post it.

Meanwhile we have to move on with MY COVETED PIECES PART III the final episode, I do hope you enjoy it.

Max Mara necklace.

When I bought this necklace I was actually trying on a gray sheath dress that fits me like a glove and of course the sales lady was like: you know what would look great with that dress, this necklace. Needless to say I fell for it.

My Zero + Maria Cornejo dresses.

Sometimes I think about signature looks, how much I would like to have one and I think that if I had to choose one thing to wear all the time it would be Maria Cornejo dresses, they are the most wonderful thing!!! Soft, comfortable, sexy and innovative.

Anthropologie jacket.

I never wear this, I might've worn this twice in my life but it's so fun and colorful I just don't want to let it go. Right now I have it as part of my room decor but I'm planning to wear it in the winter with my Rag&Bone red jeggins and boots.

My FILTHY RICH AND DAMN SEXY Elvis neck jacket.

Back when I studied fashion in Milan, my fabulous friend Karin did this wonderful collection for which I modeled an outfit for her. She gave me this jacket that was part of her collection as a gift. I love it so much and there's no way in this world that I'm ever gonna let go of this. If there's something I might pass on to my children is this jacket.

Karin's labels

Karin explained to me that Ko in Swedish means cow hahaha but she was such a funny girl, she still is actually, that she used her initials for her labels and wrote underneath:

KARIN OSTERBERG IS YOUR FRIEND

She even walked around with a tote bag with her KO...Karin Osterberg is your friend label written in huge letters. I told her I wanted a bag that said KO...Karin Osterberg is MY friend, but she said she couldn't because she wasn't just my friend but the world's friend.

3.1 Phillip Lim evening gown.

I wore this dress for my brother's wedding back in 2008, it's absolutely gorgeous and makes me look like a Greek Goddess. The lace detail in the back is so subtle, people kept on telling me that my bra was showing, I was like: it's part of the dress dummy.

Like with any other outfit there's a story behind this dress. When my brother got engaged I was dubious about where to buy my dress. One day I was navigating the New York Magazine website in search for inspiration for my dress because at one point I thought about having it done instead of buying an already made one. However I was taking a look at the Phillip Lim runway collection and I found this dress. Needless to say I traveled all the  way to NY City in search of this precise dress. When I got to the store in SOHO (with one of my worst hangovers ever!!! all because I went partying with a crazy friend of mine the night before) there was one mannequin wearing the dress and I told the sales lady: I want THAT dress. She goes: that's the last one we have. I said: I'll take it. And so it became my dress.

Yves Saint Laurent dress. This is actually a look from behind. Fantastic!!!

Prada, my all time favorite.

All right everyone, I wish you all a most pleasurable weekend.

Until next!!!
