GUATEMALA IS FASHION

September is our independence month in Guatemala and to honor this the producers of Matutino Express (Canal Antigua's morning show where I have my weekly style segment) decided to dedicate this past Friday's show to Guatemalan pride. With that in mind I thought...what better way to honor my fashion colleagues in Guatemala than to talk about GUATEMALA IS FASHION.

This past couple of years have been decisive for the fashion scene in Guatemala. However this precise year has been in my opinion the strongest and most defining one. With the birth of a new breed of fashion and accessories designers, fashion bloggers, magazines both printed and online, and the opening of new boutiques and places for the fashion community to hang out Guatemala has acquired a new fashion status.

Since I don't want to overwhelm you with endless information in one single post expect more of Guatemalan fashion on Style by Red in the future.  If you're intrigued about it stay tuned! Meanwhile here is what I talked about on Friday at Style Sessions.

Raise the roof for Guatemalan fashion woot woot!!!

What about amintas fashion and the housewife wannabe?

Unknown said...

Well... Unfortunately they are not the only one's I left out. I only have 10-15min on TV and they are not enough to talk about everyone, which is why I only chose people who love Guatemala, who are passionate about what they do, and who are working their ass off to make fashion HERE in Guatemala. Aminta is not the only Guatemalan who has made it abroad and we are very proud of them but right now Im focusing on locals. Later on I will talk about the ones who have raised the name of Guatemala in the international scene. Meanwhile it's all about my colleagues here.

Take care!

Hi maria, i am sorry but to say that Aminta and Barbara are not passionate about what they do and do not work work their asses off and don't love guatemala is very mean and false. I think you're talented and your colleagues are talented too, but this is just way wrong and selfish on your part.

Dear Anonymous,

You are taking this completely the wrong way. Please do no try to interpret my words the way you wish to hear them to provoke controversy. I also follow Aminta and I'm a huge fan of her she's obviously a girl with talent that works very hard but this time Im paying tribute to my peeps who live in Guatemala. There will come a time when I'll talk about Guatemalans living abroad and pay tribute to them, one post at a time. I also know that Barbara is a girl that works hard, but may I remind you that this is my personal blog and I can speak of whomever I wish and leave outside whomever I desire as well. It's not a matter of being selfish or not it's a matter of personal choice.

I hope you have a lovely day!
