WHO NEEDS PANTS: MARC JACOBS FW2013 RUNWAY

Need I say that the Marc Jacobs FW2013 runway show was THE show of NYFW. When I saw the images I thought: How fantastic! Who needs pants in the winter when you can have a dog wrapped around your neck. Lol! I'm kidiiiiing about the dog thing! I have to admit I have one of those dogs the real ones with teeth and all that my grandmother left to me when she passed away. Truth is I loved it,  less is more. Garance Doré described it as definitely the most chic of "walk of shames." Isn't it amazing to see how everyone always has it's own interpretation of things? Acaso necesito decirles que el show de otoño-invierno 2013 de Marc Jacobs fue EL show de la semana de la moda de Nueva York. Cuando vi las imágenes pensé: Qué fantástico! Quién necesita pantalones en el invierno cuando puedes tener un perro amarrado al cuello. Jajaja Estoy bromeaaaaando! Tengo que admitirles que tengo uno de esos perros de los de verdad con dientes y todo que mi abuela me dejó al morir. Lo cierto es que lo amé, menos es más.  Garance Doré lo describe como definitivamente la más chic "caminata de verguenza." Acaso no es increíble ver como todas las personas tienen su propia interpretación de las cosas? También tiene un video super cool del show en su blog para nuestro deleite. Denle un vistazo aquí.

FASHION EDITORIAL OF THE WEEK: ANTHEMOESSA

I just recently found out about Grey magazine thru Garance Doré. She spoke so highly of it that I thought I needed to see the magazine for myself. Of course since there's absolutely no way I could ever find that magazine in Guatemala I had to look it up online. Sometimes I get overwhelmed thinking about all the great magazines I have absolutely no knowledge of their existence. I wish I had easy access to all of them (easy physical access, I still like to go thru the pages of a magazine and collect them). 

Anyways... I visited their website and completely fell in love with their aesthetics. It's refreshing to find magazines that still maintain a true identity and creative integrity. For this week's fashion editorial of the week post I chose one of Grey Magazine's fashion editorial.  I highly recommend that you visit the magazine online and delight yourself going thru their photographs and other interesting and intelligent content.

Recientemente supe de la existencia de Grey Magazine a través de Garance Doré. Habló tan bien de la reviste que pensé que tenía que verla con mis propios ojos. Por supuesto, como es imposible encontrar una revista como esa en Guatemala tuve que buscarla en línea. Aveces me abruma pensar en todas las revistas increíbles de las cuales no tengo conocimiento de su existencia. Desearía poder tener fácil acceso a todas ellas (fácil acceso físico, todavía soy de las que me gusta pasar las páginas de una revista y coleccionarlas).

En fin... Visité su página web y me enamoré completamente con su estética. Es refrescante encontrar revistas que aún mantienen una verdadera identidad e integridad artística. Para el editorial de moda de esta semana elegí uno editorial de la revista Grey. Les recomiendo que visiten la revista en línea y se deleiten viendo sus fotografías y otros contenidos interesantes e inteligentes.

FASHION EDITORIAL OF THE WEEK: CARIOCA GLOBAL

I've been meaning to share with you this amaaaazing fashion editorial featured in the November issue of Vogue Brazil (of course it had to be cool). There are three primary reasons why I love, love, love, and love this editorial:

1. I am obsessed with Brazil

2. I am obsessed with Garance Doré

3. I am obsessed with the styling, which by the way is the wonderful work of stylist Viviana Volpicella

The styling is so cool I wish more fashion editorials where this colorful and fun. Sometimes they can be so boring and dark, but then again it's all a matter of personal preference. 

Desde hace ya un tiempo he querido compartir con ustedes este editorial de modas destacado en la edición de noviembre de la revista Vogue Brasil (por supuesto que tenía que ser cool). Hay tres razones primarias por las cuales amo, amo, amo y amo este editorial:

1. Estoy obsesionada con Brasil

2. Estoy obsesionada con Garance Doré

3. Estoy obsesionada con el estilismo, el cual por cierto es el maravilloso trabajo de la estilista Viviana Volpicella

El estilismo está tan cool que desearía que más editoriales de moda fueran así de coloridos y divertidos. Aveces pueden ser algo aburridos y oscuros, pero creo que es todo cuestión de preferencias personales.

MORNING INSPIRATION: GARANCE DORÉ AND COSTANZA PASCOLATO

And my morning inspiration is...... (drum rolls) Garance Doré of course. Garance Doré (and Jena Lyons) is the woman I most admire in fashion. She is the pioneer of street style blogging, now the pioneer of video blogging, and everything she does she does it beautifully (and she has fun while doing it). She is by far the coolest chick in town, I would definitely love to party with her.

This morning I want to share with you her interview with Costanza Pascolato for her "Pardon My French" series. Costanza Pascolato is a fashion consultant for Vogue Brazil (it can't get cooler than that). In the words of Natasha Inchley for Vogue.com: Costanza is a woman that has seen and worn it all. In this morning's video Costanza gives us a little lesson on fashion history worth watching and learning. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Y mi inspiración de esta mañana es.... (suenan tambores) Garance Doré por supuesto. Garance Doré (y Jena Lyons) es la mujer que más admiro en cuanto a moda. Es la pionera del blogging the moda callejera, ahora la pionera del video blogging y todo lo que hace lo hace divinamente (además se divierte mientras lo hace). Es sin duda alguna la mujer más cool. Definitivamente amaría irme de fiesta con ella. 

Esta mañana quiero compartir con ustedes una entrevista con Costanza Pascolato para su serie de "Pardon My French." Costanza Pascolato es consultora de moda para Vogue Brazil (no podría ser más cool que eso). En las palabras de Natasha Inchley para Vogue.com: Costanza es una mujer que lo visto y lo ha usado todo. En el video de esta mañana Costanza nos da una pequeña lección sobre historia de la moda que vale la pena ver y aprender. Espero lo disfruten tanto como yo lo he disfrutado.

HOW TO WEAR YOUR BATHING SUIT BEYOND THE POOL

I think last time I wore a one-piece swimsuit I was a teenager, ok maybe I'm lying, I was swimming in the public pool in Milan 10 years ago. Yes! back in the days when I studied fashion design in Milan I used to go swim at the public pool because I wanted to train for a triathlon. Those where my Xenadrine athletic years, I was insane!!! now I can't take 30min of workout before you have to call the ambulance lol!!!

Anyhow, back to swimsuits. For years and years I've only worn bikinis, perhaps because in your twenties one is always obsessed with suntans and the smaller the bikini the better, I still like them very small (bikinis I mean) but lately I've been seriously considering buying myself a one piece suit. You think it's because I'm scratching 35? Damn!!! lol!!! Who cares, one piece suits are very glamorous and the cool thing is that you can take them beyond the pool, bikinis too but not really everywhere and it's not classy showing up in a bikini to certain places after certain hours. I hadn't thought about it mainly because I don't own a one piece suit but yesterday I was reading InStyle magazine where I get a lot of inspiration from and there was an article on how to take your bathing suit beyond the pool. I thought...What a cool topic to share with my dear Style by Red readers and so I went and created this two looks, one is for a day at the local market and the other one is for dinner under the starry night at your favorite local restaurant. 

I chose a beautiful design by Lisa Marie Fernandez. Famous fashion blogger Garance Doré featured it on her blog this week, she took a picture of Lisa Marie Fernandez herself wearing her own design at the Pellicano hotel in Tuscany, beautiful picture!!! Check out her post here.

Before I forget, the most important thing to remember is to choose a swimsuit with a clothing type neckline, some swimsuits are really only meant for the pool (like that high neck, really high leg, front zip, black and neon Body Glove swimsuit you've been saving from the 90's in hope that someday you'll fit in it again).

FALL 2012 CAMPAIGNS: LOUIS VUITTON

Yesterday while having my daily dose of fashion news I found an article on NewYorkMagazine.com about this Fall's 2012 Campaigns, from Versace to Prada to Emporio Armani, some I loved and some I hated but the one that really left me in awe was Louis Vuitton. I had already seen a video on Garance Doré's series Pardon my French and thought it was an absolute display of pure genius, however it was their campaign photography by Steven Meisel that truly captivated me. Without a doubt a work of art.

Even though I'm not a big LV fanatic I do have to admit that Marc Jacobs vision for this seasons show was pure magic, transporting us to the beginning of the 20th Century back to the golden age of railroading (like Nicole Phelps for Style.com describes it), the young Coco Mademoiselle era. 

With all the futuristic collections presented for this Fall 2012, Louis Vuitton's time traveling was a breath of fresh air, simply put something beautiful to look at, even if you're not going to wear their clothes (or oversized hats) you have to be able to recognize when something has been impeccably executed. Two thumbs up for Louis Vuitton's Fall 2012 Campaign (and runway show).

I FOUND IT!!!

Remember I told you yesterday on my REDHEAD CRUSH: TAYLOR TOMASI HILL post that I was inspired to color my own hair red when I saw a photograph of the coolest redhead in a post by The Sartorialist back in 2010? Well.... I FOUND IT!!! But it wasn't The Sartorialist that I found it, it was actually Garance Doré. I was so excite today when I found it that I decided to share it with you. Isn't she the coolest chick? How couldn't I fallen in love with her look. Sometimes I wish I had a more urban rock and roll look but I would have to throw away half of my closet and shop for all new stuff and quite frankly I can't do that right now. Maybe I'll try doing it gradually.
