ONE PAIR OF KHAKIS

This morning while I was browsing nymag.com I found this very interesting article called ONE PAIR OF KHAKIS+FIVE STORES=FIVE SUMMERY LOOKS. When I was finished reading it I thought "It's so true, whenever we think about khakis, images of soccer moms and colored cardigans instantly pop into our heads". So why not give khakis the benefit of the doubt and try something bold and daring with them. Come to think about it, I don't own a pair of khakis, maybe after this I might go on a hunt for a pair to wear everywhere with everything.

Check out what nymag.com had to say about it:

Khakis have a questionable reputation, often bringing to mind awkward pleats and fifth-grade silhouettes. But lately, designers have given the staple pant a face-lift, making it a viable alternative to go-to jeans and leggings. For this edition of "Take Five," Belgian model Pauline Van Der Cruysse took a pair of peg leg chinos by KASIL x Taylor Jacobson to five different boutiques, where staff members styled the pants with the store's offerings. See the looks that EVA,PachuteJumelleSir, and Life:Curated created in our slideshow.

Stephanie Pappas showcases emerging designers and sleek but quirky pieces in her Nolita boutique. To create this look, Pappas chose a Henrik Vivskov top ($231) and shoes ($591), Pinky Panthers ring ($180), and a jade and cotton thread Chate necklace ($198).

Store owner Sharone Komoroff layered a flowy white CP Shades shirt ($185) under a Pas de Calais short jacket ($508), then added Mara Scalize necklaces( $300 each), a gold mask necklace by Atsuyo et Akiko ($470), Jason Ross bracelets ($375 small, $475 big), and a Mara Scalize bag. Her store's aesthetic is understated ("pachute" means "simple" in Hebrew) and consists almost entirely of earthy tones, but Komoroff found some green wedge platforms by l'autre chose ($260) for a fun punch of color.

Manager and buyer Adrienne Pratt worked off the khakis' neutral color with A Detacher Flannery wedges ($355) and a Lauren Mandogian leather bangle ($120). To make the look more summery, she added an Anntian ocean print silk shirt ($375) and Isabel Marant beaded necklace ($250).

To translate her store's "modern with an edge" vibe, Sarah Meyer picked out the Juma Jacket ($242), Mara Hoffman silk tank ($165), and  Madison Harding espidrilles ($165). She topped it off with the Low Love crystal necklace ($60) and bracelet ($40), and added a bag by Danish designer Yvonne Kone ($295).

Maybe the key here is to find yourself a pair with a more modern cut. What does this mean? slim fit, no pleats and no extra sartorial details to make it more versatile. Less is more. Also try wearing them with your favorite summer wedges, you don't need to own a lot of them, just find yourself one pair versatile enough to wear with your one pair of summer khakis and several different tops. If you're not a high heel kind of gal then instead find yourself a pair of lovely day flat sandals that are as versatile as the wedges and wear them everywhere, don't be afraid of repeating, who cares!!! If Kate Middleton repeats why can't you.

Ok, so now I have a mission, to find myself the perfect pair of khakis and then create my own khaki look book. Wish me luck!!!
