FASHION MAGAZINE COVER OF THE WEEK: VOGUE ITALIA JANUARY 2013

(English)

I can't have enough of these vintage inspired fashion magazine covers. Las time I shared a fashion magazine cover with you was Vogue Mexico also very retro inspired. This time is Vogue Italia January 2013 issue photographed by Steven Meisel. Do you love it or hate it?

BECAUSE CURVES ARE SEXY

Curvy bodacious model Kate Upton is US Vogue November new Miss America. It's so refreshing to see a beautiful girl with curves and boobs inside the pages of Vogue. Simply gorgeous photographed by Steven Meisel.

FACE THE FUTURE-VOGUE ITALIA SEPT 2012

"FACE THE FUTURE"
Carolyn Murphy for Vogue Italia September 212
Photography by Steven Meisel

Probably already a bit too late to talk about this but...I don't know about you but I find this to be very scary. While I understand the whole concept and creativity behind the production I still find it to be unsettling. Call me a square but I've never been a big fan of this sort of perturbing side of fashion. Vogue Italia would probably never hire me for anything lol! This photoshoot reminds me of Lady Gaga meets Marylin Manson meets the entire female cast of the original Dallas series, all of them on steroids. Come to think about it, put them all together and they would make a terrific horror movie. However... like it or not, there is a strong message behind this, and at the end of the day this fashion editorial did serve it's purpose which without a doubt to arouse, provoke, awake any sort of feeling on the reader.

FALL 2012 CAMPAIGNS: LOUIS VUITTON

Yesterday while having my daily dose of fashion news I found an article on NewYorkMagazine.com about this Fall's 2012 Campaigns, from Versace to Prada to Emporio Armani, some I loved and some I hated but the one that really left me in awe was Louis Vuitton. I had already seen a video on Garance Doré's series Pardon my French and thought it was an absolute display of pure genius, however it was their campaign photography by Steven Meisel that truly captivated me. Without a doubt a work of art.

Even though I'm not a big LV fanatic I do have to admit that Marc Jacobs vision for this seasons show was pure magic, transporting us to the beginning of the 20th Century back to the golden age of railroading (like Nicole Phelps for Style.com describes it), the young Coco Mademoiselle era.

With all the futuristic collections presented for this Fall 2012, Louis Vuitton's time traveling was a breath of fresh air, simply put something beautiful to look at, even if you're not going to wear their clothes (or oversized hats) you have to be able to recognize when something has been impeccably executed. Two thumbs up for Louis Vuitton's Fall 2012 Campaign (and runway show).
