STYLISH GIRLS WITH BIG APPETITES

Yesterday I went to have lunch with Angy at Tamarindos, this really fantastic restaurant in Guatemala. I thought about Tamarindos because the food is great and the ambience is even better. Since right now in Guatemala we are having the most wonderful weather ever (YES!!! I KNOW!!! We are lucky bastards) I thought it would be wise to take advantage of it and go someplace where we could have our meal outside and that of course meant going to Tamarindos.

Both Angy and I where famished and since we're both big girls (and by big I mean tall) we ended up eating half the restaurant. Of course our meal was FANTASTIC!!! we had:

1. Edamame.
2. Salmon sashimi our favorite.
3. Curry crab cake.
4. Some sushi roll I don't really quite remember the name.
5. Seared tuna with sweet wasabi sauce.

Oh and of course wine!!! 2 glasses of Sauvignon Blanc. The meal was perfect and the conversation funny, so needless to say we where the last people to leave the restaurant, except for some guys seating in a table next to us but that was it.  We weren't that naughty after all because we skipped dessert.  One must take care of the figure.

So after we finished our lunch and had a very long conversation we left the premises. On our way out SURPRISE!!! we came upon this really cool, really old car to which Angy suggested we take some pictures, so we did. Of course I was scared that the owner was gonna come and woop me since it was so old I thought I was gonna break it in two with my heavy weight. Thankfully nothing happened.

It was a really great afternoon and the good news is, good times are not over yet. Tomorrow we are going to Antigua AGAIN!!! YES!!! there where some things we didn't show Angy the first time so we're going back.

You know what that means? more fun pictures your way. Meanwhile enjoy this ones.

Until next!!!

Which one should I try first? Sashimi? Edamame? Crab cake? Such a tough decision to make!!! Notice Im wearing my favorite owl necklace from Anthropologie.

Sashimi it is!!!

Check out our fabulous meal minus the tuna and roll.

FUN WITH THE GIRLS!!!

Do you remember last week I told you I was going to Antigua with my friends and I posted some images of my outfit?

Well, before there was Atitlan and even before there was "Campo de Luz" Tecpan 2011, there was Antigua. Seriously, If had some couple of really fun weeks. Of course I'm already starting to get a little bit melancholic because both my friends Patty and Angy are leaving on Sunday and needless to say I'm gonna miss them, since they're great friends and super fun to be around with. However I'm not alone here, I have some really great friends here in Guatemala that I've yet to introduce them to you.

Anyhow, last week on Tuesday we went to Antigua for dinner and drinks. We decided to go on a Tuesday because it's ladies night and it's supposed to be even funner which it's really not relevant because we'll have fun no matter what day of the week. We went to have dinner at Nokiate a Latin-Asian fusion restaurant that's amazing, both the food and the decoration and after that we went for some drinks at Café No Sé a really bohemian bar just next to Nokiate, there was live music inside and we where really happy because the band played Manuchau's "Me Gustas Tu" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzgjiPBCsss for us, it took us a while to convince them but since we left them a nice tip they finally decided to play the song for us before the wrapped it up.

The next day we woke up a bit late, of course, well actually I didn't wake up that late, I always wake up early but the rest of the gang sure did.  Since it was already noon and we hadn't had breakfast we decided to go straight for lunch to La Reunion, one of the most amazing places to go play golf, it's absolutely beautiful, not only that but our meal was out of this world good!!!

After La Reunion which is like 20 to 30 minutes away from Antigua, we decided to go back and take Angy to see and of course buy some Guatemalan souvenirs at the local markets. What can I say, we had a really fun and enjoyable time!!!

Here are some images Patty took of me, of course I already told you before I don't have authorization to upload any other images with more people in them until Patty uploads them first, oh well, I hope you like them.

Until next and have a wonderful day!!!

Remember my outfit from last Tuesday? I just decided to exchange the big necklace for a some really big earrings that I bought at Anthropologie and I looooove. I never wear earrings but this ones I love.

Meet Lucy, another fabulous girl. She's the funniest girl you've EVER met and the friendliest, plus she's gorgeous too.  By now you've probably already guessed I'm single because I only have pictures of me and my girlfriends hahahaha

My very colorful Guatemalan handbag, it's beautiful!!! One of this days I'm gonna share a closer image of it, it's one of a kind, you can't find it at the market any more, it has gone many places with me.

How lovely, having some wine at noon, after that glass I was already three shits from the wind since I had nothing to eat in the morning.

I know I have to quit smoking, specially because I have asthma. I'm actually just a very social smoker.

OUTFIT:

Dress: Marni
Necklaces: Vintage
Sunglasses: Vintage
Shoes (not visible hahaha): Green leather Massimo Dutti sandals

And of course, after so much food and wine I had to sit down and relax and stretch!!!

GLAMOROUS BOHEMIAN WEEKEND

On Saturday after "Campo de Luz" when it was already reeeeally dark (maybe I wont do that again) we drove from Tecpan to Panajachel, where beautiful Lake Atitlan is. We wanted to show Angy one of our many Guatemalan wonders.

Of course now that Patty is here on a flash vacation (she leaves on Sunday to NYC!!!), I'm totally taking advantage of the situation and I'm making her take numerous pictures of me, of course we all know she loves doing it, don't you Patty?

However....she totally forbade me to upload any pictures until SHE has the chance to upload them on her Facebook.  I said: Patty, seriously, I can't wait two years to upload this wonderful images, I need to keep my followers updated (because Patty always takes a lifetime to upload her pictured, yes I love you too Patty). After some begging she gave me full authorization to share some pictures taken of me, but ONLY of me and maybe just a couple of me and Angy, out of 1,000,000,000,000 pictures, that's practically nothing.

Anywho, here are some images of our exciting glamorous and bohemian weekend in Atitlan.

I wish I could remember this guy's name, he had traveled all over, I'm telling you, and just right now he and his girlfriend are planning to go to the Amazons (YES!!!) to raise their child because apparently there's some sort of alternative school there that teaches you a lot about nature and how to fish for piranhas.

The bag that I'm carrying belonged to my father. My father passed away December 2009 and he left me a collection of vintage cameras and vintage camera bags that I love, love, love. This one in particular comes with me everywhere I go.

Here, a much closer look of my cool camera bag.

Lake Atitlan, one of this earth's wonders.

Ok, now I should describe my outfit. It's actually mostly MNG and Massimo Dutti with a little bit of vintage and J.Crew here and there.

Bag: Vintage
Necklaces: Vintage
Sunglasses: Vintage
Watch: Vintage
Neon bracelet: J.Crew
Neon stripped scarf: J.Crew
Head scarf: MNG
Pants and denim shirt: MNG
Shoes: Massimo Dutti
Shirt: Massimo Dutti

Om, maybe we where just faking having a conversation hahaha, you know you've done it before too, don't lie.

Of course by the time this little guy approached us we where already way broke.

I have to admit that sometime sports cars don't quite interest me that much, what I would loooove is a vintage pickup truck with a turbo motor of course.

You have to admit we do look good together.

How come sometimes I end up looking like some cartoon character?

That's all folks, I hope you enjoyed it!!!

A FASHION EVENT LIKE NO OTHER

Well, so I can finally tell you more about "Campo de Luz".

Campo de luz was a fashion event that took place this past Saturday in an enchanting place called Tecpan 82kms away from the city. The event was organized by Saúl E. Méndez www.saulmendez.com and Esquire Magazine. This of course was not your usual closed doors fashion event where only the fashion elite are allowed to enter. Noooo, far from that, thousands of people actually attended including children and pets. It was an afternoon intended to take us away from the commotion of the city into the seductive charms of the outdoors. Guatemala is without a doubt the heart the earth.

In Tecpan we where able to connect with our roots.  It was a big picnic for everyone. There where hammocks, farmers market, ecological projects, artists, capoeira, delicious food and drinks, yoga, music, story tellers, magicians and when everyone had already enjoyed a delightful afternoon and the sun came down, the fashion show started. What can I say, It was truly an event with a personality of it's own, top fashion designers would love to come up with an idea like this. I can only hope that there are more events like this to come.

When the event was over my friends and I drove all the way to Atitlan, another enchanting place but I'm gonna have to tell you more about that later. Meanwhile enjoy the images I've prepared for you. I hope you like them.

If you wanted you could just grab a tree and then take it home and plant it in your backyard.

At the parking lot, already excited to be there. Look at all the green fields behind me.

Picnic blankets for everyone!!!

Alejandro Azurdia's work!!! He's an amazingly talented Guatemalan artist. I bought two of his drawings.

The artist and Angy (by the way I totally messed up, it's Alejandro not Andrés, I don't know what I was thinking).

A little bit of Guatemalan folklore.

We really just wanted to get on top of that zebra but I think that would have been completely inappropriate and most likely we would have been asked to leave the premises.

Did you know that Guatemalan soil is so fertile that I used to have a banana tree in the backyard of my house (of course you didn't)? And NO, I don't live in the jungle.

Live music in the outdoors.

Crepes a la nutella, what else could you ask for. Of course the line was 3 weeks long but we finally made it.

The girls going crazy for nutella crepes.

When the sun came down, the show started.

That's me being interviewed just a little before the show started.

Excuse all the heads but it's the best I could do.

Let's make Guatemala a more peaceful place to live in!!!

FABULOUS GIRLS

I have soooo many images I'd like to share with you I don't even know where to start, plus it's taking me a loooot of time to work on them, which is getting me into trouble because I need to get back to my real job or else.

So, like I told you before this morning with my Angela post, this weekend I had the opportunity to attend a very unique fashion event called "Campo de Luz", which I still have to tell you more about it later and share mooore images from the event, I'm telling you, so much to share. Anyhow, I wanted to show you some photographs of my favorite girls from saturday, of course there where a lot of other amazing women there but this ones are my favorite, including myself hahaha I had to.

Meet Bárbara. Bárbara is a young and talented graphic designer, she and her colleague Jimena have their  own design agency called Workaholic www.workaholicpeople.com She always looks amazingly funky and she's always fun to be around with. Oh and did I mention she has the most amazing green almost transparent eyes? Gorgeous.

Meet Chana. Chana is just the cutest little thing (well maybe that's because I'm really tall). She's small in size but huge in talent, she's just an amazing artist with a very big soul, can't you tell my her big smile?

Meet another fabulous Bárbara. Bárbara is the sweetest thing, she also has her own blog called The Housewife Wannabe www.thehousewifewannabe.blogspot.com and now we're trying to make the blogging community in Guatemala to grow. This week I have a meeting with Bárbara to listen to some of her innovative ideas. Did I mention Bárbara is Brazilian, YES!!! She's that lucky, which makes her even more fabulous since I'm obsessed with Brazil.

Oh my goodness, meet María Cecilia. María Cecilia is simply just the coolest girl ever, she's a girl with authentic personal style and she always stays true to herself, plus she's the mother of two of cutest little girls you've ever seen, Lola and Morena. Even though Lola and Morena are both very young little girls, you can totally tell that hey both inherited their mother's sense of unique style. Style is all about being honest with who you really are and María Cecilia is of great inspiration to me.

Well I've already introduced you to Angy. I just recently met Angy and I think she's one of the liveliest people I've ever met. She's always happy and she sees beauty in everything. She also has a unique look of her own and in this image she's wearing the most electric orange lipstick and her mother's vintage sunglasses. It's been absolutely fun meeting Angy, some people are just full of life.

What can I say about Patty. Patty and I have been friends since the day we met at a friends wedding back in 2005. She's the kind of girl you want to be around with if you want to have fun. She's always happy and she always manages to have a good time.  She's been there for me whenever I've needed a shoulder to cry on or a friend to laugh with. Right now she's my private professional photographer hahaha but it'll soon be over. Patty is studying art directing at the Miami Add school and on Sunday she'll be on her way to NYC (I hate her) for three months. Oh, and did I mention after that she's going back to Madrid? YES!!! She's also that lucky.

And finally this is me. I can't really say that much about myself, that would be waaaaay too self indulgent and narcissistic hahahaha I can only say that in order to love others you need to love yourself first.
