OUFIT DETAILS: BUSTIERS AND HIGH WAISTED SHORTS

So, you guys didn't think I was done with my bustier did you? In fact I still have a few other ideas cooking up that I want to share with you further on. You're gonna love them.

Today I'm showing you a way to wear a bustier with high waisted shorts. Again, the key word here is "high waisted." I bought this linen high waisted shorts a couple of years ago at Massimo Dutti. Whenever I need great classic pieces I go to Massimo Dutti. They're really good quality considering their price (although in Guatemala Massimo Dutti is not really cheap like in Spain). Every single piece of clothing that I've bought there has lasted me a very long time. This shorts are also incredibly versatile because of their neutral color, you can pair them up with several other tops and look great. I'm thinking a classic white button down shirt, basic little white t-shirt, a soft button down silk shirt, or a gingham bustier like the one in this post. I once wore this shorts with the cutest sailor stripe top with short ruffled sleeves, also from Massimo Dutti. The great thing about this outfit (aside from the fact that the shorts cover my not so tight stomach) is that the neutral color of the shorts allow the bustier to stand out and be the center of attention, which is exactly what we want.

I visualize myself wearing this outfit while on vacation in Rio de Janeiro. I'm always fantasizing about being in Rio de Janeiro and you'll here me say it over and over again.

Right now I'm showing you only outfit details. Why? because beauty is in the details and because it encourages fantasy and creativity. Later on today I'll be uploading the complete look post. As always, you're  just gonna have to stick around fo mo!

STYLE BY RED: BEACH ESSENTIALS

This morning I woke up feeling like going to the beach for some fun in the sun. Unfortunately I had to cancel my plans because tomorrow I'm going to my beautiful Guatemala for two weeks to visit my friends and family and I have quite a few things to do before I leave (clean house, do laundry, go to Publix, finish work, do some last minute shopping for family, the usual). I've been living in Miami for three months and I never go to the beach! Which is why starting July 8th (this is when I come back from Guatemala) I'm going to the beach every Friday with or without someone. This is going to be my new Miami tradition. I'm gonna wake up early, go to boxing classes at Fight Club, then I'm gonna grab a smoothie at Jugo Fresh and then I'll be off to the beach (and then later on maybe I'll meet my friends for happy hour). This is why I moved to Miami, I wanted to experience a different kind of life and that is exactly what I'm gonna do.

Anyways, basically this are my beach essentials (minus the sunblock and the obvious beauty necessities).

Reiss bikini that I bought at Bloomingdales in Aventura Mall, Scotch &Soda fedora hat, Zara sunglasses, vintage necklace, ethnic style beach dress I bought at Playa del Carmen a few years ago, Grace Coddington memoir, Naked juice (or any other kind of nutritious juice), and last but not least my iShuffle.

LITTLE MISS RED ROMANTIC PUNK

Ok! I'm back in business and noooo I wasn't abducted by aliens, I just took some time off from everything for a few days (ok, maybe more than a few). Sometimes it's strictly necessary. I went to Miami for a week and ended up staying for 20 beautiful days. I wanted to spend my birthday in Miami with family and friends (December 21st the day the world was supposed to end). The night before my birthday we went to Spris of Coral Gables where I blew my birthday candles with the family. Then on Friday we had dinner at Wynwood Kitchen & Bar and after dinner we went to Cafeina Wynwood Lounge just around the corner for a little after party. I have to say I had a lot of fun. Every time I go to Miami I have the most wonderful time and every time I come back I feel disoriented. But anyhow... enough thinking about Miami and let's concentrate on a little work (just a little, it's still December).

I know that Tuesday is our Little Miss Red Fashion Adventures day but since yesterday was Christmas and I was being a complete bum I decided to leave it for today. Here's my Little Miss Red Romantic Punk look. We all know that spikes and studs have been one of this year's most popular trends. Everywhere you go you see spikes on everything, so of course I had to create a post that included them (expect more because I bought a couple of shoes with spikes that I plan to wear on future posts). Something I love to do to create interesting looks is mixing styles. Feminine with masculine, classic with artsy, and this time is romantic with a little punk. Adding a little punk to this outfits helps tone down the girlieness of the look making it more interesting and fun.

(Spanish version)

Ok! Me divertí mucho.

Aquí les tengo Little Miss Red Romantic Punk.

LITTLE MISS BOW TIE CHIC

So I ended up staying in Miami much longer than planed. I was supposed to go back to Guatemala today but my Cuban family surprised me here and now I'm staying till December 23 so I can spend my birthday in Miami and celebrate it with some of my favorite people. Here's another one of my fashion adventures "Little Miss Bow Tie Chic". I've always been a huge fan of the lady-gentleman look so I hope you like it and maybe feel inspired to try something similar yourself.

LITTLE MISS RED STYLISH OUT ON THE PORCH

My dear readers I have to apologize for not posting any Little Miss Red Fashion Adventures posts for two weeks. I was taking a break from everything in Guatemala enjoying my vacation in Miami with family and friends. Needless to say my head was someplace else.

Today Little Miss Red is back with her frizzy hair and stylish outfits.

LITTLE MISS RED ROCKSTAR PUNK

Ok, so I've always wanted to have a sort of bad ass rockstar look but somehow I always end up looking   romantic and vintage. Maybe it's because everything in mi closet is either romantic, vintage or bohemian. If I wanted to change my look to bad ass rock I would have to give away 90% of the things I own, which is not happening anytime soon because I don't have a hefty shopping budget lol! I guess I could start with baby steps, incorporating some rock star items to my wardrobe. My wish list include: a biker leather jacket, a biker leather vest, biker leather boots, studded sneakers, studded accessories (in fact anything studded), and perhaps a motorcycle, a pierced nose and a tatoo (ok maybe not). With those things and the ones I already have I could come up with a pretty cool vintage-romantic-rockstar look. Wadda ya think? Meanwhile back at the ranch, this is as rockstar punk as I get lol! I like it! Specially my frizzy 80's hair brought to you by my wonderful hair stylist Fernanda.

Me gusta!

TODAY'S OUTFIT: SAILOR STRIPES AND NEON

This morning I was rushing to get to a meeting not so near where I work just to find out they had stood me up! Fantastic Guatemalan formality. I can't tell you how many times I've been stood up? Why is this? Is this a Guatemalan thing? Tell me is it like this where you live.

Anyhow I was running so fast I just grabbed whatever I saw in handy. I'm not sure it's such a great mix but it did the job. Why not wear your sailor stripes with neons?

OUTFIT POST: MIXED PRINTS AND NEONS

Last week I read on Refinery29 an article about 29 trends every woman should try once in her life (I think I already told you this). Out of 29 I've tried merely 17 trends. One trend I thought I still hadn't try was mixed prints. Quite frankly I don't remember ever doing it (perhaps in my early adulthood years, who knows), so yesterday I thought why not go for it. Truth is I don't have many printed separates in my closet because I seldom ever buy prints but I did find something that I thought could work,  to spice it up I added a little bit of neon which we all know is quite the craze right now.

Here are a few tips on wearing mixed prints:

1. Stripes and Florals. Mix florals with stripes.
2. Bi-Color Patterns. Choose patterns that have only two colors and make sure that both patterns relate with each other in at least one of their colors.
3. Large Scale with Small Scale. Pair small muted patterns with large scale patterns.
4. Mix Neutral Patterns with Neutral Patterns.
5. Color Matching Mixed Prints. If you're daring you can match any kind of print as long as they share most of their colors.

When it comes to mixing prints the most important thing is not to take things to seriously, just go for it! Worst case scenario you'll en up looking like a fashion disaster lol! But that too shall pass. Meanwhile I hope you like my look and maybe it will even inspire you to try something at home. Good luck!

Stay tuned for my next post on OUTFIT DETAILS.

JOIE DENIM TOP

Today I bought what I think it's gonna be the most versatile piece of clothing in my closet this summer, a Joie sleeveless denim top at Atelier. I'm going to wear it with absolutely everything. This Friday I'm wearing it with my navy blue lace Massimo Dutti skirt and Zara embellished flats, can't wait to show you my outfit.

BLUE LACE AND CHANEL

Last year I bought this beautiful blue lace dress at Zara, just about the time when I started to pay more attention to figure hugging dresses. Today I was going thru my closet and found it. What I love the most about this dress is that it's very feminine and sexy at the same time, plus the color makes my eyes and hair pop out. In the past I've worn it with cow boy boots for a more fun and laid back look, I love making those kind of interesting contrasts.  Today I'm in the mood to dress up so I'm just gonna have to go out this week to wear it, with a better hairdo though, this is my "I have to leave the house in a hurry and don't have time to do my hair kind of hairdo."

ACCESSORIES: BLACK AND GOLD

Remember I told you about my new Zara flats? Well... Yesterday I was ready to wear them with my LBD, little Chanel bag and Massimo Dutti hat (which by the way I'm glad I didn't wear it because...what was I thinking I could've melted my head with that thing on lol!) when I noticed that that my left foot felt a little bit tighter and so I thought: wait a minute! This shoe is smaller than the other! I looked and in fact it was! Now I have to back and see if they can give me a left shoe on the right size, if not, I don't know what the hell I'm gonna do, I guess I'll just use them as part of my room decor lol!

MY NEW ZARA SHOES

Like some of you know I don't really like wearing high heels during the day (except for wedges), not because I'm tall but because I have the flattest feet in the world and they hurt too much. Needless to say I usually end up buying only sandals, sneakers, flat boots and other flats. Like for example yesterday I went to Zara, where I bought my fabulous LBD, and saw this super cute embellished flat shoes, I love them, I'm thinking about wearing them tomorrow...But with what? Lol! The dilemma!

ZARA LITTLE BLACK DRESS

Yesterday I bought at Zara this little black dress that at first sight I thought I was never gonna fit in it lol! But I did! It's by far the tightest dress I've ever worn and I'm not really used to wearing such body fitting dresses but I think I like it, at first I was a bit skeptical about it and I even thought about going back today and exchanging it for a pair of shoes but I think I'm keeping it. Another LBD wont hurt anyone, we all know us ladies can't have enough of them, I personally collect them, perhaps they're the only thing I collect (that and vintage buttons).

Anywho, what do you think?
