FASHION NEWS: J.CREW SEPTEMBER STYLE GUIDE

If you are a J.Crew snob like I am, then you probably already know that the company released an exclusive first look of their September Style Guide on Pinterest this past Monday (you didn't know?). If you still haven't seen it, then maybe you should take a few minutes and decide for yourself wether you like it or not. As much as I've been a fan ever since Jenna Lyons took over the reins and transformed J.Crew into something cool that you could actually be seen wearing, I will admit I'm not crazy about the September Style Guide. It all seems a little bit boring, except for the "sneakers with practically everything" concept that has been going on for a quite a while now in street style, and that obviously J.Crew is now endorsing. Who doesn't love sneakers nowadays? According to the J.Crew creative team, you can wear sneakers with your business suit. In my personal opinion you might just end up receiving a call from human resources. Better just stick to wear them for walking to work. At least sneakers are cool now. Back in the 80's and 90's you could spot women all over NYC walking around in the most hideous white athletic sneakers. Horrible!

However, just because It looks a little bit boring at glance it doesn't mean that I don't have some favorites I would like to get for the upcoming season. At the end of the day it's J.Crew, of course I want something they have (like maybe the metallic silver Oxfords. Ummm YEAH!)

J.Crew boyfriend fatigue jacket in camouflage.

J.Crew Etta studded heal pumps (floral printed of course).

J.Crew mirror metallic oxfords.

Yeah, for all of you youngsters out there, this really happened, like, fo real! The Sex And The City creators didn't just made it up, it's actually part of the history of fashion archives.

STYLE BY RED NEWS: HELLO BYRDIE

Hello my dear friends!

First of all, let me excuse myself for pulling an MIA (missing in action that is) on you guys, but the truth is I was under house arrest working on my midterm projects. Oh my God people, you have no idea how much work I put on those projects. I literally stayed home for 5 days working non stop from morning till like 2am-4am in the morning. I'm not even kidding one bit. Really exhausting but totally worth it. My visual merchandising II teacher congratulated me on my project and that made me a very happy woman. You know, when I started school last quarter I worked hard and studied hard because I wanted to give my very best. Another reason is because I need to find a job when I graduate so I don't get sent back to my hood (Guatemala). Having straight A's might be a little helpful. However, this quarter when I found out I was on the Dean's Honor List now I kind of feel that I need to keep my status lol! Now I feel pressured! This is actually really stupid because I'm the only single person who actually gives a (biiiiiiiiiiiiiiip) about it. But anyways....

Enough about me and my school life. I have some good news for the ladies. This morning while I was reading the July 29 Women's Wear Daily issue, I found out about Byrdie. Byrdie is the new Clique Media online creation dedicated to beauty and celebrities (more about Rihanna's infamous shaved-side hairstyle). It is a beautifully layered Web site, that is easy and fun to read, with eye catching images, clean typography, and up to date news about all things beauty and celebrities. For those of you who don't know, Clique Media is the mastermind behind WhoWhatWear and Domaine, which combined share a 23 million page views per month. Pretty amazing numbers right? Hillary Kerr and Katherine Power co-founders and chief executive officers of Clique said that there was a need for an online beauty venue that wasn't a traditional magazine's Web site, blog or a video tutorial. This is what the ladies have to say about Byrdie

"We didn't see anything that came from a strong editorial point of view that really reported out, but still encompassed the fun trends that aren't as editorially driven, like street style. There are not a lot of great sites that cover celebrity beauty out there, and not a lot that cover celebrity beauty, which is our secret sauce, that seems like a big open space."

So, if you are a beauty freak like most of us women are, you're gonna love Byrdie. You'll even find a video tutorial showing you how to get a Brigitte Bardot mane.

Have fun discovering Byrdie! See you around ladies (and gentlemen)!

OUTFIT POST: MIXING THE OLD WITH THE NEW

A couple of years ago I bought this Gap denim vest at a flea market that a friend of mine organized here in Guatemala to raise funds for a local non-profit organization. It's pretty amazing the things that you'll find at a flea market if you have patience and you know how to dig in well.

Yesterday I was invited to a little friendly gathering to say good bye to one of our really good friends who is moving away for a few months. I love gatherings because they are a great opportunity to dress up. I decided to wear my "second hand" Gap denim vest with my new Anthropologie dress, JCrew sandals, and statement necklace also from Anthropologie that I bought a few years ago. A very summery outfit perfect for my newfound girlieness. YES! I admit it! I'm girlie!

HOW TO WEAR A BUSTIER PART I

Rule #1 to looking great when wearing a bustier top is to pair it up with a high waisted skirt, or pants, or shorts as long as it's high waisted. Doing this helps you avoid too much midriff exposure, specially helpful if your abs are not THAT toned up. Here I put together a colorful, feminine, bustier summer look to try during the day. You know, sometimes I can get a little crazy in the colors and prints department. If you're not a prints and bright colors person you can always try something in solids, or neutrals or both. Perhaps mix one solid neutral with another solid bright or print. Creativity is the limit. Explore, be bold, be daring, have no fear!

BUSTIERS, POLKA DOTS, AND MIXED PRINTS

Here's a preview of my bustier look. There's still a couple of things missing to keep the suspense going on and you still have to actually see it on me. Here both bustier and shorts are from Anthropologie (obvi), and the amazing statement necklace is from Chat'e.

Don't be afraid of getting wild and crazy with prints!!! I say go for it. Worst case scenario you end up looking like a member of Cirque de Soleil.

Sometimes something as simple as the right statement necklace makes all the difference in the world.

MIAMI SHOPPING: SPIKED HEELS

It's a well known fact that spikes have been the hottest trend this year. Spiked bracelets, spiked sneakers, spiked jackets, spiked underwear... Perhaps the most sought after items right now are the spiked shoes, specially heels, even Valentino and Christian Louboutin have their own fabulous versions that are to die for (literally). With so much temptation around me I inevitably ended up causing a bit of damage to my finances. No, I din't get the Valentino or Louboutin ones, I wish! But I did find at Nordstroms in Aventura Mall two awesome pairs of heels by Schutz that I can't wait to wear. Just in time for the season's festivities. Take a look. Arent they fab?

WESTERN VRS CAMOUFLAGE OR BOTH

How versatile or how willing to try new crazy trends are you? Are you the more conservative type or are you a fashion wild one? or perhaps you are a fashion wild one trapped in a conservative body? Maybe it's time to free yourself from your own restraining order, fashion was made to express yourself and have fun!

Here are two trend proposals by famous WHO WHAT WEAR spaghetti westerns and camouflage. Which one are you most willing to try? I might go for the camouflage, I've never been too much of a western type except for cowboy boots but that's pretty much it. I'll try something later on and I'll show it to you. Maybe I'll even try a western meets camouflage meets neon kind of thing. What do you think?
Should I?

C'SANTOS: MICHAEL KORS EVENING WATCHES

Good morning everyone! Isn't it exciting a new week has just begun? Yes! Can't you tell? I'm a Monday lover! How annoying right? Lol!

On this week's C'Santos post I'm gonna talk about...(drum roll)...evening watches!!! Specifically Michael Kors beautiful "and" affordable stainless steel embellished watches always available at C'Santos

Las week I was reading an article on WHO, WHAT , WEAR bout evening watches featuring on of the infamous Olsen Twins (which one? I don't remember), and thought to myself: what a good topic to talk about for C'Santos since they have all kinds of wonderful evening watches to choose from.

Usually when we go out at night we tend to take off our watch because perhaps the one we wear during the day is a little bit to sporty to fancy with our sexy and elegant evening outfit. Now you don't need to stress about it anymore, with the new Michael Kors collection of stainless steel embellished watched you can look and feel expensive without really having to suffer for it. Leave the neon fashion watches for your during the day adventures and instead go for a stainless steel embellished oversized watch for the soireé. Good news is you can still wear it during the day if you don't feel like changing watches all the time, who says you can't show off some bling bling during the daylight? Choose one that suits your own personality and that flatters your skin tone. I for example favor more classic simple designs with a manly influence over more girlie embellished ones. Both are beautiful and satisfy different needs and tastes.

Good luck choosing your own evening watch!!!

STYLING TIP: Wear your oversized stainless steel watch with a bunch of stackable bracelets for a more modern take.

Which one, which one, which one...mmmm...what a though choice!!!
Which one you like best?

CHANEL 2012-2013 CRUISE COLLECTION: SNEAKER TREND

I told you people that wearing sneakers was in style and by the looks of it next year it's still gonna be hot. This time Karl Lagerfeld really took it to another level with platform heels in soft pastel tones to match his collection. Another hint....apparently pastels are still making an appearance in this september runways, we'll see. I for one am glad about this trend cause I like it a lot, and it's evidence that designers really do get their inspiration from street style and not the other way around like it used to be years ago. The street rules now!!!

STRIPED TOPS

There's one topic I will never get tired of talking about, and that is stripes, specially striped tops. Today I got and e-mail from J.Crew (I'm sure a lot of you also get them) where fashion director Gayle Spannaus states that she believes stripes are a neutral and that she pairs them up with everything. I think she's absolutely right. Classic striped shirts are as versatile as the chambray shirt, they both look good with absolutely everything, and to prove it I created for you three very interesting outfit ideas. Of course there are endless options and that is why we love this topic so much. Hope you like them.
