LITTLE BLACK DRESS AND TACO!!!

Today I taught a workshop on professional dressing for a real estate company here in Guatemala. I was very excited when I finished because they asked me if I could continue teaching them other topics more women oriented like color analysis, silhouette and hair and makeup so this deserves a celebration, good thing tonight I'm going out to dinner with my friend Debora because I feel like having a very dirty martini.

Anyhow... while I was trying yo document my LBD for you look who joined the party...it's my dog taco. Taco is so fat he is literally the fattest chihuahua in the world, he looks more like a penguin than a dog, you might not believe me cause he looks small in the picture but I'll prove it to you one of this days.

So anyways, my dress might've been a bit too short to go teach a workshop but what can I do if I have such long legs, besides I think I still look professional without looking like a total bore and it was too hot to wear pantyhose or tights, who cares, they liked it.

Oh my God my hair really does look orange now, everyday that goes by is a different shade of red that is not red anymore it's orange!!!

C'SANTOS: NEW STATEMENT EARRINGS

I can imagine what a tough job it must be for Cristina Santos being surrounded by so many beautiful things. I'm sure she wishes she could keep everything but then there would be no business. Just a few years ago us Guatemalan ladies had nowhere to go shopping for gorgeous jewels like the one's we can now find at C'Santos, who's been in the market for two years now, thank God. This week I went there in search for material for this week's C'Santos post and found they have new amazing statement earrings, take a look at how wonderful they are and let me know which ones are your favorite, I'm having quite a hard time choosing. Which one's do you think look best on me?

Seriously, I'm not kidding, if you really like something you see don't take too long to visit C'Santos because those things fly as fast as lollipops at a candy store.

NATALIA VODIANOVA

This is one look I would love to achieve, soft biker boots with a more dressy couture outfit on top (dress of course to show off those boots), the contrast of both is what makes it so interesting and appealing. Makes her look fresh and modern, aside from the fact that she is absolutely gorgeous.

PERFECT SUMMER NECKLACE

If you follow me on Twitter and Facebook you probably already noticed how obsessed I am with Pinterest (like the rest of the whole world), that thing is highly addictive but it's the perfect place to find inspiration. Anyhow, today while I was "Pinteresting" I found this image and thought it was the perfect summer necklace, it's colorful, it's fun, it makes a statement and it's gorgeous, I totally visualize myself wearing it with a long maxi dress or tunic (I'm infatuated with tunics) and flat sandals somewhere where there are lots of palm trees hahahah I'm always visualizing myself where there's ocean and palm trees (and tropical drinks) somewhere where I don't have to wear too much clothes hahaha.

¿How would you wear this necklace?

HOW TO WEAR MENSWEAR AND STILL LOOK FEMININE

Yesterday I was writing my weekly newspaper column that comes out tomorrow Wednesday and the topic I chose was HOW TO WEAR MENSWEAR AND STILL LOOK FEMININE. I've always felt passionate about this topic, there's something extremely alluring and elegant about a woman that wears classic menswear, done correctly can make you look chic sexy and sophisticated. What I like the most about classic menswear is that it's always in style and it's uncomplicated, womenswear can be a bit too fussy sometimes, too many horrific cheap stuff out there that only make women look sloppy. There's a lot us women can learn from proper male dressing but that's a whole other post, this time I just want to give you a few tips on how to wear menswear and still look feminine. I also created three outfits that I hope you like and find inspiring.
  1. The more clean and classic the cut, the more elegant and sophisticated you'll look.
  2. Make sure that the fit is right. Every detail and every seam should fall correctly in it's place. You're not supposed to be hiding your feminine shape, au contraire, the mix of masculine cuts with feminine curves is what makes this look so interesting and appealing.
  3. Always remember to give your masculine look a feminine touch, never wear menswear from head to toe unless you want to be a man.
  4. Mix masculine pieces with feminine pieces.
  5. Accessorize correctly. Thru accessories you can add a feminine touch to a masculine look, but thru them you can also give a masculine touch to a feminine look. Get creative!
  6. Always show some skin. How sexy it is a classic button down shirt unbuttoned all the way down to where you dare.
  7. Play with proportions, if you're gonna wear a boxy jacket make sure the pants are slim.
  8. Add a masculine hat to your look.
  9. Wear masculine shoes with feminine clothes.
  10. And last but not least experiment and have fun, it's the only way you'll acquire experience and knowledge in anything fashion related. You don't have to go to fashion school to know how to dress in style but you do need to read, instruct yourself, experiment and try new things, like anything else in life great style also requires great effort.

SUMMER DRESSING 101

I'm a summer person, I love the hot weather, palm trees, ocean and the overall tropical feeling. I like wearing sandals, maxi dresses and very little clothes but how do we give outfits that extra special something when the heat starts to rise and clothes start to come off? Summer is the season to take advantage of those wonderful colorful clutches, chic panama hats, stackable bracelets, oversized sunglasses, statement necklaces and dangly earrings (and of course keep those toes clean and pretty with all the lovely summer colors). Summer is the time to show off that pretty figure of yours that you've been working so hard on and to be as feminine as you can be.  Here are some ideas on how to give that special twist to a regular summer dress. Accessories (and the way you wear them of course) is what differentiates you from other people that wear exactly the same thing you do.

If you don't like to accessorize that much, you can always take something off, but do try to give your summer outfits that little something extra that is going to make it special.

TURBANS BY CAROLINA ARROYO

Ok so here it is. Like I told you on my previews post, I found a beautiful purple turban to go with my summer chic Joie outfit. Carolina Arroyo who is co-owner of Atelier is also a fantastic accessories design and is responsible for this amazing turban. I highly recommend that you go to ATELIER and take a look at all of Carolina's creations, handbags, head pieces, bracelets, necklaces... go take a look for yourself.

Meanwhile... do you think I could be an Arabian queen? I think I could lol! Anyhow... hope you like it.

Lol!!! I just noticed that there was a little fly standing on top of my turban, guess she just wanted to be part of the picture or maybe it was the really bright color that attracted her.
